Individual therapy focused on
meeting you where you're at.
Mental healthcare should be inclusive, collaborative, and affirming. I offer a safe space for you to explore whatever you bring into the room. In my experience, people feel most comfortable when their experience is validated, they are given space to explore and reflect without judgement, and are celebrated as their authentic selves. Therapy should be a supportive experience where you journey from one place to another - that can look like suffering to acceptance, chaos to order, distress to calm, or confusion to understanding. I look forward to journeying with you.
I'm Cara McCarty (she/her) - it's nice to meet you.
As a Licensed Professional Counselor in Oklahoma, I provide individual mental health counseling in person and virtually. I hold a Masters degree in counseling and a Bachelors degree in urban studies with a focus on sociology. I have been in the field of mental health since 2012 and have been in private practice for almost 10 years.
I found therapy in college and it continues to be a formative experience for me through all of life's ups and downs. I am a parent and step-parent, I have experienced the heartache of divorce and the redemption of found love, I have witnessed the deep sadness and despair of a terminal illness and the thin space that can exist while walking someone "home" to their final rest. I practice what I teach and I am constantly working to embrace change.
A centering principal for me is that all are welcome here. It is my belief and policy that all persons are deserving and entitled to receive counseling services regardless of race, color, religion, national origin, age, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, or disability.
